Going West

La Laguna Beach - This really is a delightfull place. There is a quiet little beach bar on the beach, but just along from that there is a small development of designer shops and half a dozen nice restaurants. Occasional fashion shows are staged by the swimming pool.

El Christo - Next to Estepona marina. It forms a nice cove, recently regenerated, and sheltered from the wind. You car park on the beach and BBQ and the windsurfing is excellent.

La Rada beach is situated opposite the town centre and has been recently regenerated. It is very large and busy and has many facilities

Sonora beach - the closest to the apartment, is directly opposite the "pink "restaurant, on the other side of the coastal highway, just follow the underpass. This is one of the quieter beaches and is less commercial than Heaven Beach. It has a beach bar, but at the time of writing, it had no music or was just playing quietly in the background.

Heaven Beach - the next beach to Sonora. This usually has loud music and entertainment, including flamenco dancing on Saturdays.

El Pirata Beach - On the same road follow the signs for the Jolly rodger restaurant

Tikitano Beach - also with a superb restaurant

There are beaches and entrances to beaches all along the coastal Road

Most, but not all of the beaches have their own beach bar (chiringuito). The majority of these establishments have sun beds for hire at a reasonable price per hour or day. Many also offer music and create their own, unique ambience. Heaven Beach Bar, very near to the apartment, has Flamenco dancing on a Saturday and may have other entertainment on different days of the week.

The food in these beach bars is similar in many of the restaurants, featuring plenty of Mediterranean specialities to tempt the palate. Fresh fish and paellas are highly recommended dishes.

Spaniards in search of the ultimate beach holiday generally arrive early to get a good sunbed and then alternate between fun on the beach and snacks or drinks at the "chiringuito". Many enjoy a long, relaxed lunch at the beach bar as well before spending the rest of the afternoon enjoying more fun in the sun and relaxing on comfortable sun beds by the Mediterranean.

Families and groups of friends generally rent several sun beds and set up camp to enjoy a virtual home away from home from early morning until sunset.
